Job Description
MEP SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT - ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL
Technical Assurance HS2 Routewide Buildings
We are recruiting senior MEP specialists from either an electrical or mechanical discipline to provide technical assurance across nine complex HS2 building assets.
The portfolio includes portal buildings, pumping stations and tunnel shafts supporting railway and tunnel infrastructure. The assets contain HV/LV distribution, ventilation, smoke control, SCADA/BMS, communications, lighting, fire systems, public health and lifts.
The position:
- Review specialist contractor designs and shop drawings
- Assess technical submissions for compliance and constructability
- Review plant, materials and equipment selections
- Provide discipline-specific advice to design and construction teams
- Coordinate electrical and mechanical interfaces with other work packages
- Support the resolution of technical queries and design issues
- Review field-change requests and non-conformance reports
- Identify risks affecting installation, testing or commissioning
- Support fire-stopping and compartmentation coordination
- Review testing and commissioning proposals
- Work with designers and contractors to maintain the design intent
- Provide practical technical guidance throughout project delivery
Candidate requirements:
- Extensive electrical, mechanical or multidisciplinary MEP experience
- Detailed technical knowledge within the relevant discipline
- Understanding of construction design and design-assurance processes
- Experience reviewing shop drawings and technical submittals
- Knowledge of installation, testing and commissioning
- Ability to assess multidisciplinary interfaces
- Strong analytical and stakeholder-management skills
Candidates may come from infrastructure, main construction, building services, industrial facilities or specialist contracting. Direct rail experience is not a requirement.
