The Opportunity

We're looking for our first Solutions Architect to help bring vision into production.

You'll work directly with our customers, helping them build exciting products with durable execution. You'll also help shape the future of Restate by bringing customer insights back to the team, influencing the product roadmap, and sharing what you're learning with the broader developer community through talks, demos, and other evangelism efforts.

The Role

You'll work directly with engineers, architects, and technical leaders to take Restate from initial evaluation to production.

This is a highly technical role. You'll spend your time in architecture discussions, technical evaluations, prototypes, code, and production troubleshooting via white board.

You'll help teams:

• Evaluate where durable execution fits into their architecture

• Design production systems with Restate

• Build proof-of-concepts and reference implementations

• Solve distributed systems and infrastructure challenges

• Deploy and operate Restate in production

You'll also bring what you learn back to Restate, shaping the product, improving developer experience, and turning recurring customer challenges into reusable tooling and patterns.

What You'll Do

Architect & build

• Design production architectures with engineering teams

• Help solve problems around state, messaging, orchestration, and failure handling

• Build prototypes, integrations, and reference implementations

• Guide teams from evaluation through production

• Troubleshoot complex distributed systems and infrastructure issues

Shape Restate

• Bring technical feedback directly to engineering and product

• Turn recurring challenges into tooling, documentation, and best practices

• Contribute to technical demos, talks, and developer content

What We're Looking For

We're looking for technically strong engineers and architects who enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems alongside other engineers.

Must Have

• Strong software engineering or solutions architecture background

• Experience with distributed, backend, or event-driven systems

• Strong understanding of system architecture and reliability

• Experience with a backend language such as Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, Rust, or C++

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and/or Kubernetes

• Ability to dive into code and troubleshoot technical issues

Nice to Have

• Distributed databases, messaging systems, workflow engines, or infrastructure software

• Kubernetes, networking, observability, or cloud architecture

• AI infrastructure or production AI applications

• Rust or other systems programming experience

• Open-source or technical evangelism experience

Location

• United States (San Francisco Bay Area Preferred)

• Travel approximately one to two weeks per quarter
