Job Description

Naval Architect, Senior | Fort Washington, MD, United States | Hybrid | $120,000 - $150,000

We're hiring for a rapidly growing, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that provides mission-critical support to federal agencies and the commercial maritime industry. This employer is known for delivering innovative and tailored expertise across various engineering and management disciplines to address complex challenges.

The Role

  • Provide comprehensive technical support for ship design phases, including feasibility, concept, preliminary, and contract design.
  • Evaluate systems and equipment, analyze requirements, and conduct studies related to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design.
  • Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats, applying ISO and class society standards for structural analysis.
  • Plan, conduct, witness, and document crucial tests such as stability, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials.
  • Support USCG Ship Design Team efforts, requiring a strong understanding of U.S. Federal shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering/marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with U.S. Federal or commercial ship/boat acquisition programs.
  • Proficiency with naval architecture software for complex hull design problems and knowledge of corrosion principles.
  • Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Eligibility for a SECRET security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
