Company Description
Charles Street Finance (“CSF”) is a specialist secured lender based in Cheadle, South Manchester. Established in 1983, we’re a small team but have doubled the size of the loan book over 2 years such that we are seeking to grow and enhance the existing personnel in key areas to further facilitate our ambitions.
We are all about a common-sense proposition built around attention to detail and speed of response whilst always putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.
A can-do approach fuels our speed of response from enquiry through to payment. Honesty and integrity are fundamental principles across the customer journey and the many long-standing relationships we have cultivated are testament to our service levels and reliability.
As a Financial Crime Manager you will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and continuous enhancement of Charles Street Financial Crime Framework. Acting as a financial crime subject matter expert, the role provides oversight and challenge across all aspects of financial crime risk management.
In addition to framework and governance responsibilities, the role undertakes review and assessments of the firm's high risk customer relationships and financial crime escalations. This includes the review of Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), periodic reviews of high-risk customers, screening escalations, monitoring outcomes, suspicious activity investigations and NCA disclosures.
The role works closely with the outsourced Financial Crime Team and Charles Street colleagues to ensure financial crime risks are effectively identified, assessed and managed in line with regulatory requirements and the firm's risk appetite.
As a Financial Crime Manager we are looking for someone to:
- Maintain and enhance Financial Crime policies, standards and procedures covering AML, CTF, sanctions, bribery & corruption, Market Abuse and Fraud.
- Conduct horizon scanning to assess regulatory developments and emerging risks, ensuring the Financial Crime Framework remains effective and compliant.
- Support the delivery of key Financial Crime governance activities, including the Business Wide Risk Assessment, Customer Risk Assessments, MI and reporting and Financial Crime training.
- Review and make recommendations for higher-risk Financial Crime activities, including high-risk customer relationships, EDD requirements, fraud referrals and Financial Crime escalations.
- Review transaction monitoring outcomes, screening alerts, providing challenge, direction and approval recommendations where required.
- Review Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) investigations and determine whether disclosures to the National Crime Agency (NCA) are required.
- Act as a Financial Crime subject matter expert, providing advice, guidance and constructive challenge to the wider business.
- Support the assessment and resolution of complex Financial Crime cases, escalations and regulatory matters.
- Support the implementation of Financial Crime systems, controls and regulatory change initiatives.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the Financial Crime Framework, promoting best practice and a strong Financial Crime culture across the business.
Essential
- Significant experience within financial crime compliance, AML, risk or compliance functions within a financial services environment.
- Detailed understanding of UK financial crime regulatory requirements and industry guidance.
- Practical experience drafting business wide risk assessment and supporting activities such as customer level risk assessments, country risk assessments and industry reviews.
- Experience in developing risk based policy and procedures aligned and proportionate to business.
- Experience in completing SAR investigations, making recommendations on disclosure and drafting external disclosures.
- Strong investigative skills with the ability to accurately and clearly document findings.
- Ability to provide robust challenge and independent oversight while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex customer structures and financial crime risks.
- Experience managing competing priorities and delivering to deadlines.
Desirable
- Professional qualifications such as ICA or equivalent
- Previous experience within specialist lending, mortgages, banking or consumer finance.
- Knowledge of fraud risk management and prevention frameworks.
- Experience supporting financial crime technology implementations.
