Position: Product Owner – Data Governance (Job Id – 26-01203)

Location: New York NY 10003 (HYBRID 1-2 Days Onsite/3 Days Remote)

Duration: 6 months with potential to convert to FTE

• The manager is seeking someone who understands the importance of "getting it right the first time" when establishing governance rules, standards, and controls, and can apply lessons learned to evolving business needs.
• Experience with Oracle Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) would be a significant differentiator, as it is the core system supporting Customer Operations analytics and reporting. While not required, candidates with Oracle CC&B exposure should be prioritized.

• The individual will play a key role in establishing and influencing how data governance standards, policies, and controls are implemented across Customer Operations.
• Strong understanding of Azure-based data environments is preferred. The organization is also expanding into Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) and integrating multiple data sources across the enterprise.
• Experience implementing governance standards in support of analytics, AI, and emerging data initiatives is highly desirable.
• Backgrounds in highly regulated industries are especially attractive (utilities, banking, financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, etc.), particularly candidates who have established governance policies and procedures in regulated environments.
• Ideal candidates will have experience as a Data Steward or closely partnered with a centralized Data Governance Office while supporting business operations teams.
• The Product Owner – Data Governance will serve as a key product owner and data steward supporting Customer Operations' data governance and data quality workstream. This role will be responsible for helping Customer Operations maximize the value, quality, transparency, and usability of its data while ensuring appropriate governance standards, policies, processes, and controls are established and maintained.
• The Product Owner will work closely with Customer Operations business stakeholders, IT, data owners, the Customer Analytics program, and the enterprise Data Governance Office (DGO). The role will translate business needs and data challenges into prioritized product initiatives, features, user stories, governance requirements, and data quality improvements. Customer Operations is an early adopter of Con Edison's analytics and data-driven capabilities. As new analytics use cases are developed and additional data sources are integrated, the organization is identifying opportunities to improve data quality, governance, metadata management, and controls.
• The successful candidate will have an opportunity to influence how data governance standards are established and applied within Customer Operations, while helping ensure those practices support current and emerging analytics and AI use cases.

• Product Backlog Management (epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria)
• Data Quality Management (profiling, issue identification, quality controls)
• Metadata Management & Data Catalog Management
• Agile/Scrum Product Ownership
• Product Owner experience managing roadmap and backlog priorities
• Ability to translate business needs into requirements, user stories, and governance initiatives
• Strong stakeholder management across business, IT, analytics, and data teams
• Data Governance and Data Quality leadership experience
• Ability to identify gaps, root causes, and drive process improvements

NICE TO HAVE

• Utility industry experience
• SQL for data analysis, validation, and investigation
• Data Catalog tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, etc.)
• Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics/reporting tools
• Experience supporting AI, advanced analytics, or data-driven business initiatives
