Location: St. Louis, MO (preferred), Denver, CO or Charlotte, NC (Secondary)

Duration: 6 months base contract; likely extensions thereafter

Job Description:

Todd is looking to add 3 API Spring Devs onshore. This will be in support of a new high-priority initiative: Agentic AI. Agentic AI is a transformation focused on delivering more personalized, context-aware customer interactions while reducing friction and improving customer satisfaction. The developer is creating the backend services/APIs that allow AI agents to interact with Charter's systems, customer context, and downstream services.

ideally here in STL but if we have someone solid in Denver or Charlotte he will consider

his top 2 things for a candidate, is 1 they need to be spring dev, then they need a curioaggressive mindset meaning they are eager to learn and take initative

If they have a good mindset, they can teach them more on the tech side but need have a good working mindset/critical thinking

if they are young or more junior that works, they dont need to be 20 year veteran

2 round interview process: 1st with Todd and Dev lead then Jerry and Garath (very technical)

Team does extensive technical screening so need candidates that can deliver

JD from Client notes - AI: This developer will focus on the backend/API side of the platform, building the services and integrations that allow AI agents to communicate with Charter's various systems and access the information they need.

What We're Looking For

The #1 priority is strong, hands-on Spring development experience.

We need someone who has spent their career developing backend applications and APIs using Spring and Java.

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong, hands-on Spring development experience

Strong Spring Boot experience

Strong Java development background

Experience building REST APIs

Experience developing backend services and integrations

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

Experience working in an enterprise development environment

Experience with unit testing

Experience with Git and Maven

Experience working with CI/CD and modern development practices

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Agentic AI Experience

Experience working with AI, Generative AI, or Agentic AI is a plus, but it is not the primary requirement.

We are primarily looking for an experienced Spring/API developer who can support the backend infrastructure behind the AI-agent experience.

Candidates do not need to be AI engineers or build the AI models themselves.
