Broadleaf Commerce Subject Matter Expert

Overview
Seeking a hands-on Broadleaf Commerce subject matter expert to support a retail client engagement involving potential replacement of HCL Commerce cart/checkout functionality with Broadleaf Commerce. Ideal candidate has led or been deeply embedded in live retail implementations, not just platform training/certification.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as technical SME for Broadleaf Commerce architecture, data model, and extension points (cart, checkout, pricing, promotions, order management)
Assess current HCL Commerce cart/checkout implementation and define a migration/replacement approach to Broadleaf
Partner with client architects and internal delivery teams to scope effort, risks, and integration touchpoints (payment, tax, fulfillment, OMS)
Provide hands-on implementation support configuration, customization, and testing of Broadleaf cart/checkout modules
Advise on performance, scalability, and PCI/security considerations for checkout flows
Support solutioning/estimation conversations for the broader engagement
Required Experience
4+ years hands-on Broadleaf Commerce implementation experience (not solely architecture/advisory)
Direct experience with retail/e-commerce clients cart, checkout, pricing/promotions modules specifically
Familiarity with legacy commerce platform migrations (HCL Commerce, WebSphere Commerce, or similar) a strong plus
Working knowledge of Java/Spring stack (Broadleaf's underlying framework)
Comfortable working directly with client stakeholders in a consulting/staffing context
Nice to Have
Experience migrating off HCL/WebSphere Commerce specifically
Retail apparel/fashion vertical experience
Exposure to headless commerce or PWA storefronts
