We offer a wide range of specialist services and provide 24-hour emergency and critical care through our facilities in NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, and SA.

We are seeking a veterinarian to join our team in a 12–18 month Emergency and Critical Care Internship. Based within our busy 24-hour emergency and referral hospital, this role offers recent graduates and experienced veterinarians the opportunity to develop confidence and capability in emergency medicine, critical care, triage and the management of complex patients. The program provides a strong clinical foundation for veterinarians interested in pursuing a career in Emergency and Critical Care or further specialist training.

Job Description

The internship is designed and overseen by our experienced Emergency and Critical Care team, with support from specialists across our multidisciplinary hospital. You will gain structured, hands-on exposure to best-practice emergency and critical care in a supportive, collegiate environment, while becoming part of the growing ARH network.

Interns work a flexible rotating roster aligned with the needs of the Emergency and Critical Care service, including day and night shifts, weekends and public holidays. Under the supervision of experienced ECC veterinarians and specialists, you will participate in patient triage, diagnostic work-ups, treatment planning, emergency procedures, inpatient management and communication with clients and referring veterinarians. Clinical teaching, case discussions, journal reviews and support with scholarly activity are included as part of the program. Responsibility will increase progressively as your confidence and competence develop, with appropriate supervision maintained throughout the internship.

Qualifications

  • Mentorship from experienced Emergency and Critical Care veterinarians and specialists across a multidisciplinary referral hospital

  • Access to continuing education throughout your employment, including face-to-face learning, e-learning and our symposium

  • Support for progression into ECC practice, specialist internships or future residency training

  • Access to a network of like-minded professionals and a dynamic, supportive team environment

  • Generous staff discounts at Greencross Vets and Petbarn
