Database Administrator – SQL Server / Azure SQL
Location: Madison, NJ | Manhattan, NY | Boston, MA | Aventura, FL | Seattle, WA(Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite)
Employment: Permanent / Contractor
Database Administrator:
•    Supporting the DASH space team.
•    Strong expertise in SQL Server and Azure SQL Database administration, performance tuning, monitoring, backup/recovery, and operational support.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, support, and optimize mission-critical broker platform databases hosted on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL. The role is responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, scalability, and operational excellence across production and non-production environments. The ideal candidate will work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and support teams to maintain reliable database services that support business-critical broker and real estate operations.
Key Responsibilities
•    Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server and Azure SQL Database environments.
•    Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and recovery strategies are implemented and regularly tested.
•    Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and optimization opportunities.
•    Perform database tuning, index optimization, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
•    Manage database security, user access, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.
•    Support database deployments, schema changes, patching, upgrades, and migration activities.
•    Collaborate with application development teams to review database designs, stored procedures, and data models.
•    Implement and manage Azure-native database services and automation capabilities.
•    Investigate and resolve database incidents, production issues, and service disruptions within SLA timelines.
•    Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
•    Support cloud modernization initiatives, including migration from on-premises SQL Server environments to Azure SQL.
•    Participate in on-call support and operational readiness activities as required.
Required Skills & Experience
•    5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
•    Strong expertise in: 
o    Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)
o    Azure SQL Database
o    Azure SQL Managed Instance
o    SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
o    T-SQL Development
•    Experience with: 
o    Backup and Recovery
o    Always On Availability Groups
o    Replication
o    Database Clustering
o    High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR)
•    Strong database performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.
•    Experience monitoring and optimizing: 
o    Query performance
o    Execution plans
o    Indexes
o    Resource utilization
•    Hands-on experience with Azure monitoring and database management tools.
•    Knowledge of database security, encryption, role-based access control, and compliance best practices.
•    Experience supporting large-scale, high-transaction production environments.
•    Strong problem-solving, analytical, and incident-management skills.
•    Excellent communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
Nice-to-Have Skills
•    Experience supporting Broker, Real Estate, MLS, Property Management, Mortgage, or Financial Services platforms.
•    Azure certifications such as: 
o    Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
o    Azure Administrator Associate
o    Azure Solutions Architect Expert
•    Experience with: 
o    Azure Data Factory
o    Azure Storage
o    Azure Key Vault
o    Azure Monitor
o    Log Analytics
•    Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
•    Experience with PowerShell, Python, or database automation scripting.
•    Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and database release automation.
•    Exposure to PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other cloud-native database technologies.
