Senior Back End Go Engineer
Location: Beaverton, Oregon (On-site)
Role Overview
The Senior Back End Go Engineer develops cloud services, APIs, and infrastructure used worldwide. The immediate priority involves utilizing SpiceDB to replace fixed, organization-wide roles with permission sets, groups, and grants that reflect complex organizational structures.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend microservices and APIs including REST, GraphQL, and gRPC, primarily in Go.
• Design and implement fine-grained authorization models using SpiceDB.
• Plan and execute zero-downtime, verifiably equivalent migrations of existing customer access to the new permission model.
• Build event-driven services using messaging systems such as NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Design and maintain SQL database schemas, queries, and data migrations.
• Troubleshoot and improve the reliability, security, and performance of production services.
• Collaborate with Web, Embedded Software, Product Verification, and Product Management teams to deliver features and resolve issues.
• Participate in code reviews and document designs and processes in Confluence.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience: 6+ years of commercial software development, including backend services and cloud infrastructure.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Go (Golang), microservices architecture, and SQL database design. Hands-on experience with AI agentic coding tools (such as Claude Code) for daily development, including directing agents through multi-step tasks and validating AI-generated code. Experience with SpiceDB, OpenFGA, or Zanzibar-style permission systems, and relationship-based hierarchical authorization models (ReBAC). Working knowledge of Linux environments and shell scripting.
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with Zitadel, Auth0, or similar OIDC providers.
• Experience with SCIM provisioning and SSO identity providers like Okta or Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with Terraform for building and managing infrastructure.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Bitbucket in Microsoft Azure environments
