The Position

Wesley College seeks to appoint an accomplished technology executive to the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). Leading a significant information technology services function and broad enterprise portfolio, the CIO is a key member of the College Executive and plays a vital role in enabling outstanding experiences for students, staff and the wider Wesley community.

Reporting directly to the Principal, the CIO will be a trusted partner to the College Executive and leaders across the school, with visibility and influence at College Council level. The role is responsible for the College's information technology and data environment, ensuring that systems, technology and services are developed, implemented and integrated to support Wesley's strategic goals and educational and business priorities.

The incoming CIO will continue to strengthen the College's technology foundations, review the technology landscape across infrastructure, applications and data, and shape practical near- and medium-term priorities. The role is accountable for ensuring an integrated, fit-for-purpose and commercially sustainable information management and technology environment, supported by effective governance, cyber security, compliance, risk management and disciplined investment prioritisation.

The CIO will bring an enterprise mindset and work collaboratively with educational and operational leaders to ensure technology decisions support teaching and learning, service quality and broader organisational outcomes.

This appointment calls for a proven people leader who can operate strategically while remaining close to delivery, working with their leadership and broader team to build capability and mature the function. It is expected candidates will have demonstrated success leading comparably scaled technology teams (30+ staff), developing leaders and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, service excellence and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will offer broad technology leadership experience across strategy, applications, infrastructure, service delivery, cyber security, data, vendor management and program and project governance. They will be able to assess complex environments, identify interdependencies, prioritise investment within financial constraints and convert strategic intent into pragmatic, cost-effective execution.

Equally important will be a collegiate, relational and adaptable leadership style. The CIO will build trust and credibility with the ITS team, executive peers, College Council and stakeholders across Wesley's campuses. Strong judgement, curiosity, clear communication and the ability to understand how technology decisions affect people, departments and the wider College will be critical. Experience in education or another complex, multi-site and service-intensive environment will be highly regarded, although sector background is less important than leadership maturity, enterprise breadth and alignment with Wesley's culture and values.

Wesley College Melbourne, a Uniting Church school with a rich tradition spanning 157 years, is a diverse, dynamic, coeducational learning community with more than 3,400 students aged between 3 and 18 years.
