Full Stack Developer (Unreal Engine) - Remote

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Software Engineer IV (Unreal Engine) for a Remote position with a Leading Technology Firm. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity. This position is 100% remote.

The main function of a full stack developer is to code for both front and back-end programming. This role will primarily focus on developing Unreal Engine applications for VR devices but may involve some backend work as well. The ideal candidate will be able to design user interactions, and develop servers and databases to power new entertainment experiences, primarily across the sports and cinema verticals.

Responsibilities:

• Design, code, test, document, implement, and maintain VR application programs and interfaces
• Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results
• Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for system software applications
• Monitor systems capacity and performance, plan and execute disaster recovery procedures, and provide technical support
• Identify, escalate and document production impact issues
• Evaluate user requests for new or modified computer programs to determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current systems and capabilities

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred
• 5+ years of professional development experience
• Strong expertise with Unreal Engine
• Able to rapidly prototype spatialized content
• Experience using tools to measure application performance and diagnose issues
• Familiarity with VR devices and development
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage one's time
• Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles

Desired skills:

• Experience building for and/or using VR headsets
• Knowledge about video playback fundamentals (video encoding/decoding, etc)
• Experience creating and managing Unreal plugins

Pay range: up to $111.19 per hour
