Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client in Fort Mill, CA that is seeking a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer leads Controls and Automation workstreams within capital and productivity projects, ensuring solutions are properly designed, integrated, commissioned, and aligned with operational requirements. This role partners closely with Plant Operations, Process SME Engineers, IT, Capital Engineering, R&D, Quality, Productivity, and Reliability teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure employees, contractors, equipment, and automation solutions comply with Owens Corning safety standards
  • Identify and execute automation opportunities that improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability
  • Design and implement automated systems, including robotics, PLCs, control systems, and digital manufacturing technologies
  • Partner with Process SME Engineers to define requirements and ensure automation solutions meet process specifications
  • Develop and maintain standards for automation architecture, programming, and documentation
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and technical execution while removing project roadblocks
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements
  • Analyze process and automation losses, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Support equipment improvements, capital planning, Management of Change, preventive/predictive maintenance strategies, and process stability initiatives
  • Commission automation projects and provide technical support during installation and startup
  • Share best practices across plants, R&D, engineering, and operations
  • Travel: 40-50%, as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related field; 4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for an engineering degree
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment; heavy/discrete manufacturing or Doors industry experience preferred
  • Experience with industrial automation, robotics, control systems integration, PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial networking
  • Proficiency with automation technologies and tools such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Python scripting
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, TPM, process optimization, Root Cause Analysis, and FMEA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to drive sustainable equipment and process improvements
  • Ability to develop and communicate ROI/business justification for automation and improvement initiatives
  • Experience leading complex automation projects from concept through implementation, including managing timelines, priorities, and internal/external stakeholder needs
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines
  • Effective communicator and collaborator across technical, operational, and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and transfer technical knowledge across all organizational levels
  • Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and evolving business requirements
  • Experience with Braincube and AspenTech preferred
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
