Our client, a European Banking Group, are looking for a part-time (50%) Head of Compliance, Risk & MLRO for a standalone role to oversee all UK Compliance & Risk for their small UK Wholesale Securities Brokerage Office. Reporting to the UK CEO you will perform appropriate compliance advisory and monitoring activities to ensure that the UK Company is compliant with ongoing regulatory requirements including:

  1. Reporting directly to the Board in relation to the Company's Compliance, AML and risk management arrangements.
  2. Regulatory advice in response to evolving regulatory change/developments or when the Company undertakes new business activities
  3. AML advice in response to evolving regulatory change/developments or when the Company enters new jurisdictions or provides services to different types of entities
  4. Setting and managing the Company's risk exposures in a manner proportionate to the size and nature of its business;
  5. Identify, assess and monitor compliance risks and propose measures to manage these risks
  6. Perform periodic regulatory and AML risk assessments & monitoring reviews
  7. Asses the adequacy and effectiveness of the measures and procedures put in place by the Company to ensure action is taken to address any deficiencies
  8. Carry out updates to the compliance manual, policies and procedures as applicable as and when required, ensuring that they are appropriate and proportionate to the firm’s needs
  9. Oversee the Company's procedures to capture 'suspect' transactions and ensure appropriate reporting to senior management and the authorities
  10. Update the compliance strategy and compliance monitoring programme
  11. Coordinate with the Group compliance & internal audit functions and with local regulators and external auditors
  12. Where necessary, source and approve external legal or compliance support within agreed budgets set by the Board

The successful candidate must have previous or current experience as the registered SMF16 for a similar Wholesale Securities Broker and be comfortable with working in a standalone, hands-on role with varied cross function responsibilities. While the obvious technical compliance & AML knowledge and experience is required you will also have some experience across risk management or the desire to develop this.

This is a small UK branch office where you will work closely with colleagues at all levels in an open plan collegiate environment. The role is offered 2.5 days per week part-time and hybrid with ideally 1 day per week in their West End office. The working hours are also flexible so could be 5 half days to fit around childcare requirements (inc office day) or two full days and one half day as you choose, therefore may suit working mother retuning to work or an experienced Compliance Officer looking to reduce their working week (or already with an existing part time arrangement).
