Software Engineer with Security Clearance

Software Engineer Location: Washington, DC – potentially up to 5 days onsite
Clearance: Top Secret We are seeking a Software Engineer – Subject Matter Expert (SME) with 10+ years of specialized experience in software engineering, application architecture, and secure software development. This individual serves as the principal authority for enterprise software architecture, development standards, application modernization, and secure software delivery across complex environments.

The Software Developer SME will lead the design, development, testing, and enhancement of enterprise applications while establishing architectural frameworks, development best practices, and modernization strategies. The role combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on engineering expertise to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions aligned with enterprise objectives, zero-trust principles, and interoperability requirements. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in software development, application engineering, or software architecture.
• Extensive experience designing and developing enterprise-scale software solutions.
• Expertise in modern programming languages, software design patterns, and application architectures.
• Strong knowledge of application security, secure coding practices, and software quality assurance.
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control systems.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and establish enterprise development standards.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with custom application development using UI & backend/Middleware with Bootstrap, Django (Python), Database (MySQL), Elasticsearch, and RabbitMQ
• Experience with open-source applications such as Assemblyline
• Experience with open-source upstream development using React, NodeJS, Python, Redis and Elasticsearch Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
• Experience supporting federal, defense, intelligence, or highly regulated environments.
• Expertise in cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers, and modern application platforms.
• Experience addressing cross-domain or cross-enclave interoperability challenges.
• Knowledge of zero-trust architecture and secure enterprise application development.
• Relevant certifications in cloud technologies, software architecture, Agile, cybersecurity, or DevSecOps.

Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $175,000 - $250,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
