Electrical Engineer

Location: Glasgow Uddingston (Glasgow)

Were looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at our head office in Uddingston, supporting the design and delivery of a growing portfolio of electrical infrastructure projects.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong electrical engineering background who enjoys getting involved in the detail, working closely with project teams and taking designs from initial concept through to delivery.

What Youll Be Doing

Working as part of our Utilities team, youll take responsibility for the electrical engineering and design requirements across your assigned projects.

Youll be:

• Producing DNO and IDNO design packs, single line diagrams, engineering reports and general arrangement drawings.

• Taking ownership of the electrical design requirements for your projects.

• Working closely with our Civil Engineering team to make sure civil designs meet electrical equipment and installation requirements.

• Supporting the preparation of specifications for primary plant including HV transformers, circuit breakers and switchgear.

• Reviewing supplier drawings, schematics and technical information to make sure equipment meets project requirements.

• Preparing electrical layouts, secondary control and protection systems and single line diagrams.

• Carrying out system studies including protection coordination, voltage regulation, load flow and fault level assessments.

• Preparing project design packs from initial design through to construction handover.

• Working with clients, DNOs, IDNOs, suppliers and Engineers throughout the design process.

• Providing technical support to the wider project team as projects move through design and delivery.

What Youll Bring

Were looking for someone with a strong electrical engineering background and experience within utilities, power or electrical infrastructure.

Youll ideally have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar relevant qualification.

• Experience working on HV, utility or electrical infrastructure projects.

• A good understanding of current DNO and IDNO requirements, Codes of Practice and relevant industry standards.

• Experience using AutoCAD to produce designs and as-fitted drawings.

• Experience using DIgSILENT PowerFactory would be an advantage.

• The ability to review technical drawings and specifications with a good eye for accuracy, compliance and buildability.

• A practical understanding of project and contractual requirements.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Confident communication skills and the ability to work well with clients, suppliers and internal teams.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
