Job Description

Job Title: Desktop Engineer

Location: Reston, VA (Onsite)

Position Summary

We are seeking a Desktop Packaging Engineer responsible for building, testing, and deploying Windows and macOS application packages within a large enterprise environment. The role focuses on enterprise software delivery, application lifecycle management, and rapid vulnerability remediation, including support for critical and zero-day security threats.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with application owners, security teams, deployment engineers, and support organizations to ensure software packages are delivered securely, efficiently, and in accordance with established operational standards and service level agreements (SLAs).

This position requires strong technical expertise in application packaging, endpoint management platforms, and automation, along with the ability to respond quickly to emerging security and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy application packages for Windows and macOS platforms.
  • Create and maintain application packaging solutions using MSI, MSIX, and App-V technologies.
  • Support enterprise-wide software deployments and updates through endpoint management platforms.
  • Package and deploy vendor patches, security updates, and emergency remediation releases.
  • Develop PowerShell scripts to automate packaging and deployment processes.
  • Ensure packaging solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and reliability standards.
  • Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to support vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Monitor packaging and deployment operations to ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, standards, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot complex packaging and deployment issues across enterprise environments.
  • Participate in change management and release management activities.
  • Evaluate and adopt new technologies and automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Desktop Engineering or Application Packaging.
  • Hands-on experience with: (remaining text is cut off in the image)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM)
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Workspace ONE
  • Experience with application packaging technologies:
    • MSI
    • MSIX
    • App-V
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills.
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale software deployments.
  • Strong understanding of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Change Management processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting critical security initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in highly regulated enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)
    • Entra ID
