Underwriting Assistant

Amwins is looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join Special Risk Underwriters in Charlotte, NC. By providing support to our program managers and clients through servicing a high volume of accounts while giving great attention to detail, Underwriting Assistants are an essential part the success of our firm.

While working with the industry’s leading wholesalers and surplus lines carriers, our Underwriting Assistants have the opportunity to learn our company from the ground up with exciting opportunities for accelerated advancement.

SRU Underwriting Assistant duties:

• Monitor and triage binder requests as they are submitted
• Review and issue binders
• Request missing information from internal and external sources, and follow through to resolution
• Partner with broking team Technical Assistants to query, gather, and confirm information during binder generation
• Data entry and collation into multiple internet-based systems, as necessary
• Use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) in daily work
• Support day-to-day operations as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

SRU Underwriting Assistant requirements:

• Excellent computer skills, including typing proficiency and Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel), with an emphasis on Excel spreadsheets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Highly motivated
• Ability to prioritize important and time-sensitive tasks
• Ability to recognize and resolve problems
• Strong organizational skills, willingness to take on challenges, and focus on personal accountability

Work is performed under immediate to general supervision, following well-defined instructions, policies and procedures.
