A little more about your role…

Our Strategic Asset Management team is growing, working across sectors providing advisory and consultancy services to road, rail, aviation, local government and energy clients, plus now expanding into nuclear and defence assets.

As our Asset Management Lead into the Nuclear/Defence sector you will be a recognised subject matter expert, responsible for leading and shaping asset management strategies.

Your role will be fundamental in advising clients on long-term capital investment planning, lifecycle modelling, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. You will work with senior executives, government agencies, public and private sector clients to deliver high-impact consulting and technical solutions that improve asset performance and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

  • Growing this new area of the business through leading and managing high-quality winning tender submissions, developing new client relationships and maintaining them.
  • Providing technical leadership in your area, applying expertise in risk-based decision making, whole-life asset planning, information management and regulatory compliance.
  • Leading analytical staff and technical experts to inform long-term capital investment programmes.
  • Working with clients to understand how they currently manage their assets and how they would like to manage their assets in the future.
  • Growing relationships with other teams and mentoring/developing staff working for you on projects, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture and ensuring all safety, health and well-being (SH&W) requirements are met.
  • Acting as a lead advisor, ensuring the integration of technology (Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Decision Support Tools (DSTs) to enhance asset performance and resilience.
  • Overseeing and managing consulting projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and exceed client expectations.
  • Driving innovation by identifying opportunities for process improvement, adoption of new technology and development of sustainability initiatives.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

It is anticipated that you will be a Chartered Engineer or similar.  It is expected that your experience will include the following:

  • Extensive proficiency in nuclear/defence engineering and infrastructure consulting, with a proven track record in business development and project leadership.

  • Broad knowledge of the nuclear/defence specific standards and policies.

  • Demonstrable understanding of asset management practices and theory, and business strategy.

  • A strong expertise in ISO 55000, asset lifecycle planning, investment planning, risk-based asset management strategies and digital transformation in asset management.

  • Working with asset data systems, including configuring or specifying EAM, CMMS and DSTs.

  • The capability to engage and present to clients the creative and innovative development of engineering technology, contributing to continuous improvement systems.

  • Excellent communication skills to convey new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical colleagues effectively, both verbally and in writing, including in presentations.

  • A desire to work and collaborate in a variety of styles: in large teams, small teams and independently; both online and in person, with a passion for developing others.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills, having delivered large-scale high impact projects that include planning, managing and completing deliverables.

  • A commercial focus, demonstrating the management of financial performance and project delivery.

  • A strong network within the nuclear/defence industries including all of decommissioning, new build and public/private sector areas.

  • A BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
