Sr. Network Engineer (Hybrid)

Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Melbourne, FL - 32940 (Onsite / Hybrid)
Duration: 4 months Contract to hire
Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of LAN & WAN networks, including Cisco and Palo Alto hardware and software maintenance, core services installation, and troubleshooting Satcom Direct Government and services. This role involves designing, installing, and optimizing network infrastructure across multiple locations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. The engineer also provides support for military and company personnel as needed.

o Thorough understanding of basic network concepts
o Experience designing and troubleshooting complex network topologies
o Very comfortable with the CLI
o Able to understand and review packet captures
o Self-starter and ability to reverse engineer existing designs - this is critical; they need a candidate that can hit the ground running.
o Experience with writing detailed documentation and drawings
Experience (Routing & Switching)
o Hard focus on routing and switching
Not a significant focus on collaboration, wireless, Cisco ASA/ISE
Not a significant focus on ACI or SD-WAN
o Routing Protocols: OSPF and BGP
o Overlays: VXLAN
o VPNs: GRE, IPSec, L2VPN, L3VPN
o Understanding of VRFs and route-leaking
o Segmenting routing
Experience (Security)
o Experience with firewalls and security (preferably Palo Alto Networks)
Experience (Systems)
o Must be comfortable with Linux operating system

Work History
o 5-10 years of engineering-level experience
o Can speak in detail about the design, implementation, and operation of past projects
o Reliable work history

Education/Certifications
o B.S. in Information Technology (optional)
o Cisco CCNP Enterprise (nice to have) or CCNP Service Provider (preferred) or equivalent knowledge, understanding
