Job Description

An employer in Melbourne needs a Software Engineer to take ownership of work at every stage of the development lifecycle. That begins with analysing what users require and continues through application programming, testing, technical documentation and upkeep of the finished product. Integrating AI and machine learning sits at the centre of the brief.

This is a full-time position. The employer has indicated that visa sponsorship may be available, and that this applies to a suitably qualified and experienced applicant. Candidates have until 12 November 2026 to put themselves forward.

Hiring managers in software read a CV for proof, so yours ought to point to released applications, tested code and the frameworks behind them. If it falls short of that, prepare an evidence-led developer CV using Build AI CV before you submit.

  • Study the business requirements and produce the technical specifications and software designs that follow from them
  • Deliver and support software applications in the employer's languages of choice, which are Node.js, Python, C#/.NET and C++
  • Integrate AI functionality by means of large language models, drawing on frameworks like LangGraph, Flowise and LangChain
  • Develop machine learning models for regression, classification, anomaly detection and predictive analysis, evaluate them, and take charge of data preprocessing, feature selection, model training and performance optimisation
  • Put sentiment analysis, image processing and natural language processing techniques to use in the applications that need them
  • Connect software systems to one another by developing APIs and database integrations
  • Complete unit and integration testing, identify defects, implement the corrective changes and conduct code reviews that uphold reliability, performance, quality and security
  • Prepare technical specifications, system documentation and testing records, and maintain each of them
  • The employer asks for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field, or for equivalent relevant experience
  • 3+ years' experience in designing, developing, testing and maintaining software
  • Programming skills in Python that are strong, and experience with Node.js or C#/.NET
  • Practical experience with frameworks for AI or machine learning such as TensorFlow, Keras or scikit-learn
  • Experience developing APIs
  • Experience working with SQL databases
  • Understanding of version control, software architecture, testing practices and debugging
  • Familiarity with development methodologies of the Agile or Scrum kind
  • Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, all of them strong
  • A capacity to work independently, and to contribute effectively within a team
  • Desirable: experience with other LLM integration tools, or with LangGraph, LangChain or Flowise
