Main Responsibilities

  • Manage aspects of quantity surveying and cost consultancy including pre and post contract duties
  • Produce cost estimates
  • Manage the tender process, review and analyse tender returns and prepare recommendations to the client as well as advice on procurement routes
  • Role will be two stage procurement using NEC4
  • Attend meetings, prepare financial reports and monitor the status of projects
  • Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place
  • Knowledge and understanding of value engineering
  • Ensure the project remains on budget from design to completion phase
  • Full post contract duties including establishing the effect of variations and evaluating and negotiating final account settlements
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, maintaining the highest standards of professional competence at all times
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
  • Support junior team members to deliver our cost management service efficiently and effectively

Required skills and qualifications

  • Degree or Masters in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • You must be able to demonstrate consultancy experience and have professional membership of the RICS (or working towards this)
  • Experience of high value and complex projects gained in a consultancy environment
  • Defence, workplace, retail, commercial or mixed-use sector experience desirable
  • First class communicator, capable of establishing and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Commercially aware with excellent negotiation and organisational skills
  • Strong IT skill
  • Good negotiation skills
  • High standard of numeracy
  • Client-facing and enthusiastic about the industry
  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively prioritise delivery to set deadlines
  • Knowledge and experienced in use of Microsoft Office packages, and CostX
  • Sox control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to when applicable

This offer is contingent upon your successful completion of a security clearance process. Your employment with Turner & Townsend will be conditional upon obtaining and maintaining the required security clearance for the duration of your employment. This will include the Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS) and SC Clearance Vetting.

Please note that the security clearance process will involve background checks, and other assessments as deemed necessary by the relevant authorities.

Failure to obtain the required security clearance or any issues arising during the clearance process may result in the withdrawal of this offer or termination of employment.
