Principal Electrical Design Engineer

We're looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our Building Services team based in Liverpool or London. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Location: Liverpool or London
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
Salary: starting from £60,000

Are you...

• A Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE or IET, with a Degree in Electrical Building Services or Electrical Engineering
• Experienced in managing and driving a multi-discipline technical/engineering team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets
• Skilled in communicating complex technical concepts into more readily understood information suitable for a wider business audience
• Experienced in the application of quality procedures and document control in engineering design
• Able to pass the BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements

What will you be responsible for?

As Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you'll oversee complex building services engineering, working collaboratively to deliver sustainable, compliant, and cost-effective design solutions from concept through to construction.

You'll be at the heart of technical excellence, managing talented teams, integrating disciplines, and driving innovation on high-value projects. This role offers the chance to shape design delivery whilst nurturing team development and building strong client relationships.

Your day to day will include:

• Leading the management of all works delivered through the Electrical team, managing all aspects of Building Services engineering and working with the Major Projects Mechanical Lead to ensure coordinated solutions
• Managing team utilisation levels, quality output, and team development, maintaining standards for delivery aligned to industry practices
• Preparing designs and advice including feasibility, stage, and condition reports, whilst liaising with other teams within Kier to achieve effective delivery
• Playing an active part in business development, supporting bid submissions, attending client meetings, and bringing new business opportunities to the service line
• Managing teams to provide high quality multi-disciplinary designs and specifications that meet client requirements whilst successfully delivering projects to budget and timescale
