NAVAL ARCHITECT | Laurel, MD, United States | Hybrid

This employer is a leader in maritime engineering and defense systems, seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join a pivotal aircraft carrier program. The role involves critical integration, policy development, and high-risk engineering operations, contributing significantly to the advancement of naval technology. Ideal candidates will possess a strong background in ship design and systems integration.

The Role

  • Manage naval architecture aspects of major aircraft carrier program systems integration, providing platform perspective.
  • Develop and set engineering policy for Navy project engineers, PARMs/ISEAs, and contractors.
  • Plan, design, and report on high-risk engineering operations for system and aircraft carrier design.
  • Negotiate resolution of challenging integration issues, representing engineering policy.
  • Plan and manage complex programs for ship design, maintenance, repair, and modernization.
  • Evaluate and incorporate the latest developments in Naval Architecture and Engineering Systems.

What You'll Need

  • Minimum one year of specialized experience in managing systems engineering projects for ship design, development, or modernization.
  • Professional engineering degree or equivalent qualifications (e.g., EI, EIT, PE license, specific coursework).
  • Experience in evaluating and incorporating new engineering systems into technical plans and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering programs in a defense or maritime context.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
  • DAWIA certification in the relevant Acquisition Functional Area.
