This role provides on-site security to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for employees and visitors by responding to emergencies, addressing disruptive behavior, and monitoring facility activity. It also supports safety procedures, assists with front desk coverage, and collaborates with staff to maintain a secure and professional atmosphere. The Security Guard responds to emergencies, monitors facility activity, addresses disruptive behavior, and utilizes de-escalation techniques to manage tense or challenging interactions. The position also supports safety procedures, assists with front desk coverage, and collaborates with staff to maintain a secure and respectful atmosphere.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide security services to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, participants, and visitors.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and provide necessary assistance to staff and clients.
  • Address disruptive behavior using calm, professional de-escalation techniques and remove individuals from the premises when necessary.
  • Serve as a point of contact for 911, law enforcement, and emergency responders during incidents.
  • Escort unauthorized visitors to designated areas or appropriate exits.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the facility, monitor activity throughout the building, and report safety or security concerns.
  • Follow established procedures related to fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control, accident investigations, and emergency response.
  • Respond to staff and management requests for assistance with difficult or escalating situations involving participants, visitors, or employees.
  • Assist with front desk operations as needed, including answering phone calls, managing visitor sign-ins, and directing guests.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with participants, staff, visitors, and management.
  • Maintain professionalism and sound judgment in high-stress or emotionally charged situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid security license required
  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Knowledge of security operations, procedures and emergency response
  • Minimum 2 years related work experience (office support, copy or mail services a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflicts and manage challenging interactions calmly and effectively 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team 
  • Availability to work 2 weekday evenings until 6pm
