Data Governance Analyst 

Job Summary
The Data Governance Analyst 2 (Contractor) supports enterprise data governance initiatives with a focus on the Epic Analytics Catalog, Epic Reset alignment, and data governance standardization across analytics platforms.

This role is responsible for advancing metadata management, data quality, catalog governance, and data literacy, while ensuring analytics assets align with enterprise standards, lifecycle requirements, and security models. The contractor will partner with Data Governance, Analytics, and IT teams to improve catalog usability, governance adoption, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Support Epic Analytics Catalog assessment and Epic Reset alignment efforts, including reviewing catalog structure, evaluating asset inventory, and identifying assets to retain, update, consolidate, or retire. Execute data governance updates within the catalog to ensure proper ownership, certification, and lifecycle alignment with enterprise standards. 
Develop and implement metadata and catalog governance standards, including defining tagging frameworks, creating metadata templates, normalizing existing metadata, and establishing validation processes to ensure consistency and quality across reports, dashboards, and other analytics assets. 
Establish and monitor data quality and governance metrics, including defining rules and thresholds, tracking catalog adoption and metadata completeness, and building dashboards and reporting using Business Intelligence tools to measure effectiveness of governance initiatives. 
Support access and security alignment by mapping role-based access and Active Directory groups to analytics assets, validating access consistency across environments (POC, DEV, PROD), and ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards and Epic Reset changes. 
Define and enforce promotion and lifecycle governance standards, including establishing processes for assets moving through POC, Development, and Production, implementing governance checkpoints, and documenting approval and ownership requirements aligned to Epic build and migration processes. 
Contribute to the data governance operating model by aligning catalog ownership to value streams and Triad structures, supporting stewardship responsibilities, and participating in governance review cadences to monitor catalog health and compliance. 
Develop and deliver training, enablement, and communication materials to support catalog usage, metadata understanding, and governance adoption, including end-user guidance and stakeholder presentations to promote a data-driven culture. 
Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Governance, Analytics, and IT teams to ensure consistent adoption of governance practices and support broader enterprise data initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
Area of Study: Information Systems, Data Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
Alternate Qualifications:
Bachelor''s degree; or Associate degree and 2 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum experience requirement; or HS Diploma/GED and 4 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum experience requirement.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in healthcare data and analytics environments, including Epic Cogito (Caboodle, Clarity, SlicerDicer, Radar)
Experience supporting analytics catalog management, metadata governance, or data catalog tools
Experience with enterprise analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Experience working on enterprise initiatives or large-scale transformations (e.g., Epic optimization or Epic Reset)
Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams (Data, IT, Clinical, Operational stakeholders)
Experience developing training materials, documentation, or data literacy content
Certification
Preferred Certifications:

Epic Cogito Certification  
Data Governance or Data Management certifications (e.g., CDMP – DAMA)
Process improvement certification (e.g., Six Sigma Yellow Belt)
Licensure
None required.
