• The contractor will establish the automotive application s technical foundation, adapt shared software assets, and deliver capabilities for audio measurement, configuration, tuning, and evaluation. This work requires close collaboration with audio tuning engineers, DSP developers, Systems Engineering, UX, and Product Management, progressing from prototypes to tested, deployable functionality. auto-tech-sw-architect-job-desc
• The emphasis is on rapid delivery through reuse: leveraging shared libraries, UI components, design standards, and validation assets while accommodating automotive-specific requirements. hands-on contributor who can resolve architectural questions, coordinate subsystem interfaces, and establish practices that allow subsequent developers to focus on implementation and testing.
• Responsibilities
• Apply Claude Code to complex software development. Use Claude Code extensively for planning, implementation, refactoring, debugging, and test development across application modules and subsystem interfaces. Maintain engineering accountability for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Establish the development environment. Set up automotive development and Claude Code workspaces, repositories, and reproducible builds. Clone or branch approved shared assets and maintain project instructions, architectural context, design rules, and validation criteria.
• Define and implement the application architecture. Assess the shared foundation against automotive needs; define required extensions, client-server boundaries, APIs, data models, and application-state management. Favor reuse over unnecessary redesign.
• Clarify requirements and integration responsibilities. Work with Product Management, Systems Engineering, measurement-system, firmware, and back-end owners to define complete workflows, interface behavior, dependencies, and testable acceptance criteria.
• Establish co-development practices. Agree shared-component ownership, branching and contribution practices, dependency versions, and compatibility testing with partner development teams. Maximize shared improvements while minimizing disruption and unnecessary divergence.
• Develop automotive tool capabilities. Implement guided measurement workflows, laptop audio input/output, compute-target communication, back-end service integration, parameter controls, and on-target A/B listening.
• Implement responsive user interfaces. Use modern application technologies such as React and TypeScript to implement designer-provided UI/UX, technical visualizations, session management, and clear status and error feedback.
• Prototype and deliver incrementally. Evaluate uncertain workflows and architectural approaches, demonstrate working capabilities, and incorporate feedback. Communicate technical risks and trade-offs before they affect delivery.
• Establish quality and release practices. Develop automated unit, integration, and system-level tests, including hardware-connected verification where needed. Support CI/CD, diagnostics, configuration management, deployment, and release processes.
• Provide documentation and technical handoff. Document architecture, interfaces, development workflows, and known limitations. Provide technical guidance and onboarding so additional contributors can implement and test defined functions.

• Demonstrated experience using Claude Code for substantial, multi-module software projects, including coordinated changes across front-end, service, and integration layers.
• Ability to explain how Claude Code was used to:
• structure and plan complex development work;
• maintain project and architectural context;
• implement coordinated changes across multiple modules;
• debug and refactor existing code;
• generate and maintain automated tests; and
• verify AI-generated changes before integration.
• Ability to direct AI-assisted development through clear requirements, architectural constraints, reusable instructions, and test criteria not rely solely on prompting or accepting generated output.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including hands-on architecture and delivery of production-quality applications.
• Strong experience with modern application development technologies, preferably React and TypeScript, and client-server or distributed application architectures.
• Strong software design skills spanning APIs, data modeling, state management, asynchronous operations, error handling, modularity, reusability, and testability.
• Proficiency in source control, code review, automated testing, dependency management, CI/CD, and reproducible development environments.
• High-level understanding of digital audio and signal-processing concepts, including filters, frequency response, gain, delay, signal routing, and multichannel audio.

• Ability to work independently through evolving requirements, collaborate across engineering disciplines, and communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; MS preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing technically complex desktop or web applications for engineering, measurement, simulation, or creative-production workflows.
• Experience with Python, C++, or other languages used for back-end services, scientific computing, and system integration.
• Experience integrating applications with embedded systems, DSP platforms, real-time systems, measurement hardware, or multichannel audio interfaces.
• Experience visualizing acoustic or measurement data and supporting professional audio tuning workflows.
• Experience maintaining shared software across products or teams, including coordinated contributions and compatibility management.
• Automotive industry experience and a record of taking applications from early prototypes through customer deployment and support.
