Issue Management Engineer – Automotive

Job Summary

 

Our client is looking for an experienced Issue Management Engineer to lead the intake, tracking, coordination, and resolution of engineering issues across vehicle development and post-production phases. This role will work closely with Engineering, Validation, Quality, Manufacturing, Warranty, and Customer Support teams to drive issues to closure and improve vehicle quality and reliability.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

·         Own the issue intake and management process across pre-production and post-production phases.

·         Capture, prioritize, document, and track issues from validation, HIL testing, PWB, manufacturing, warranty, and in-market performance.

·         Maintain accurate issue records in the GIM system, including root cause, ownership, corrective actions, and resolution timelines.

·         Coordinate with cross-functional teams to assign actions, monitor progress, and drive issues to closure.

·         Facilitate issue review meetings and provide clear status updates to engineering teams and leadership.

·         Maintain dashboards and reports for issue trends, aging, resolution rates, and program risks.

·         Document problem definitions, root cause analysis, interim actions, and permanent corrective actions.

·         Prepare issue resolution glidepaths showing forecast, milestones, and progress.

·         Lead lessons-learned activities and document preventive measures for future programs.

·         Support escalations and communicate critical issues, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.

·         Collaborate with Quality and Warranty teams to align issue-management processes and avoid duplication.

 

Required Qualifications

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field.

·         5+ years of experience in automotive engineering, quality, validation, or a related environment.

·         Experience with automotive issue tracking and management systems.

·         Strong understanding of automotive development, validation, testing, and launch processes.

·         Experience with HIL testing, validation, and launch readiness.

·         Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, and PFMEA.

·         Experience with issue documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

·         Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

·         Experience working with cross-functional and global teams.

·         Experience with lessons-learned documentation and continuous improvement.

·         Experience with automotive electrical/electronic systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

·         Experience with IOP, IQS, QFS, warranty, or other field-performance metrics.

·         Experience with the Stellantis Engineering Releasing Process.

·         Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

·         Experience supporting both vehicle development and in-market/field issues.
