Project Management

Job description

Create confidence. Lead delivery. Own outcomes.

At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with some of the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives, and experience a world of opportunity to shape a career as unique as you.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our Earth & Environment team, working within a growing portfolio of complex environmental work.

This is a role for a project leader first and foremost. Someone who thrives in a consulting environment, brings structure to complexity and takes genuine ownership of project outcomes.

You will work alongside environmental scientists, hydrogeologists, engineers and other technical specialists, field teams, contractors and senior client stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes safely, efficiently and commercially.

We are looking for someone who understands how multidisciplinary consulting projects work, where information evolves, technical judgement matters and successful delivery depends on bringing the right specialists together around a well-managed project.

What you'll do:

  • Lead multidisciplinary environmental investigation, remediation and closure projects.
  • Own project scope, budget, schedule, forecasting, risk, change and commercial performance.
  • Establish clear delivery plans, accountabilities, governance and project controls.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate technical specialists, field teams, laboratories, contractors and other delivery partners.
  • Lead complex environmental field programs and their associated operational interfaces.
  • Identify emerging delivery and commercial risks early and drive appropriate action.
  • Ensure deliverables meet agreed scope, quality and schedule requirements and follow the appropriate technical review and assurance pathway.
  • Create clarity and accountability across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Mentor and support emerging project managers and technical professionals.
  • Bring calm, structure and leadership when projects become challenging.

What we're looking for:

You are an experienced Project Manager who understands that successful consulting delivery requires much more than maintaining a schedule and producing a monthly report.

You'll bring:

  • 10+ years' project management or project-delivery experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex consulting or professional-services projects.
  • A track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong commercial and financial management capability.
  • Confidence managing budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete, change, risk and project controls.
  • Experience coordinating complex field programs, contractors and operational interfaces.
  • Excellent client and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong planning, governance and reporting discipline.
  • The confidence to make decisions, solve problems and communicate clearly when circumstances change.
  • The experience that will help you succeed
  • Experience managing projects within environmental consulting or a closely related technical professional-services environment will be highly regarded.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Environmental investigation and assessment
  • Contaminated land
  • Hydrogeology and environmental monitoring
  • Remediation
  • Environmental compliance and advisory services
  • Asset retirement and decommissioning
  • Closure planning

The type of person who will succeed

You:

  • Create confidence rather than confusion.
  • Take ownership when things get difficult.
  • Bring structure without creating bureaucracy for its own sake.
  • See commercial and delivery risk early and act.
  • Know when to make a decision and when to bring in technical expertise.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, technical specialists and field teams.
  • Communicate openly, simply and proactively.
  • Balance safety, quality, commercial performance and schedule without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Leave projects and teams better organised than you found them.

Why join WSP?

You'll join an exceptional team delivering complex and environmentally important work alongside highly respected technical specialists and delivery professionals.

This role offers:

  • Significant project and client responsibility.
  • A strong pipeline of environmental investigation, remediation and closure work.
  • The opportunity to lead genuinely complex, multidisciplinary consulting projects.
  • Opportunities to influence project-delivery systems and ways of working.
  • The chance to mentor and develop future project leaders.
  • A pathway into broader project, portfolio and delivery leadership as the business grows.
  • Work/life flexibility, career development, global mobility, health and wellbeing programs and social initiatives.

If you're the kind of Project Manager people trust when the project gets difficult, we'd like to hear from you.
