Job Summary

Seeking an experienced AWS Solutions Architect / Data Architect to design and lead enterprise data architecture solutions for an AWS Cloud-based Lakehouse environment.

The role focuses on AWS data architecture, data modeling, governance, integration, security, metadata management, performance optimization, and legacy-to-modern system transition, while providing technical leadership across data and IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain AWS Cloud-based Lakehouse data architecture.

  • Design data models, storage, processing, and integration using S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, and related AWS services.

  • Define and enforce data governance, quality, security, and compliance standards.

  • Design scalable data integration solutions between diverse sources and the data lake.

  • Optimize architecture for performance, scalability, availability, and low latency.

  • Implement metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, and discoverability solutions.

  • Develop security controls aligned with AWS security best practices.

  • Work with data engineers, analysts, data scientists, and other technical teams.

  • Maintain architecture diagrams, design specifications, and data-flow documentation.

  • Evaluate emerging AWS services and data technologies.

  • Drive continuous improvement of enterprise data architecture.

  • Support transition from legacy to modern systems through information flows, data exchange, and data translation/standardization.

Must-Have Requirements

  • 10+ years of overall IT experience.

  • 10+ years planning, designing, building, and implementing IT systems.

  • 6+ years in solution architecture, system design, and data management.

  • At least 5 years leading/managing major complex IT implementation projects involving professional services, integration, implementation, and/or architecture transition.

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect in AWS cloud environments.

  • Extensive AWS Cloud, data lake/lakehouse, and big data experience.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • AWS S3

    • AWS Glue

    • AWS Athena

    • AWS Redshift

    • Data Modeling

    • Data Governance

    • Data Security

    • Data Integration

    • Metadata Management

  • Strong experience designing data integration solutions and optimizing data processing.

  • Experience leading major IT implementation efforts or serving as Chief Architect.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.

  • One required AWS certification: Solutions Architect / Data Analytics – Specialty / Big Data.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field.

  • Data and AI/ML project experience.

  • Government or public-sector experience.

  • Experience in HHS-related domains such as:

    • Data Services / MDM / R360 / EDMS

    • Child Support

    • Integrated Eligibility

    • Child Welfare

    • Adult Protective Services

    • Juvenile Justice

    • Health & Human Services

  • Experience with legacy-to-modern architecture transitions.

  • Strong experience mentoring junior architects and technical teams.
