Job Description

Multi-skilled Engineer
Location: Northampton
Contract Type: 3-month contract
Rate: £26 per hour (Umbrella, no CIS) or £20 per hour PAYE + holiday pay
The hours are Mon - Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Summary
My client is seeking a competent and versatile Multi-skilled Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join their maintenance team on contract in the Northampton area.


The role involves providing both electrical and mechanical expertise to support the maintenance department, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of site equipment. Key responsibilities include identifying and managing risks associated with equipment, updating technical drawings, and improving maintenance programmes.


The engineer will work on three-phase electrical systems up to 440V, handling motors, gearboxes, valves, and other mechanical components. Accurate task management using mobile devices linked to the CAFM maintenance system is essential.


The role also requires liaising with onsite services to resolve building services issues and deputising for the Shift Leader when required. Strict adherence to risk assessments and health and safety procedures is mandatory to ensure safe and compliant task completion.

Skills
Electrical and mechanical maintenance expertise
Experience working with three-phase systems up to 440V
Ability to identify and manage equipment risks
Proficient in updating technical drawings and documentation
Competent in writing and following risk assessments
Experience with motors, gearboxes, valves, and related equipment
Skilled in using mobile devices and CAFM maintenance systems
Strong communication and liaison skills with onsite teams
Ability to deputise effectively for the Shift Leader
Commitment to health and safety compliance

Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems

Certifications & Standards
should hold a recognised electrical or mechanical qualification
Health and Safety training and risk assessment competence
Authorised Person or Competent Person certification (advantageous)
