Job Description

Your new company

You will be joining an established pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation with a strong focus on safety, quality, regulatory compliance and continued investment in its manufacturing facilities. The business is delivering a programme of capital infrastructure and site improvement projects to support operational resilience, sustainability and future growth.

Your new role

As an Engineering Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of capital infrastructure and facilities projects across a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing site. Projects will cover areas including HVAC, clean and process utilities, building services, electrical distribution, site infrastructure, facilities modifications, energy and sustainability.

You will manage projects from initial concept and business case development through design, construction, commissioning, qualification and final handover. This will include responsibility for project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, resources and contractor performance, with individual capital projects valued up to approximately £10 million.

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement and Finance, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with GMP, CDM and internal governance requirements. You will also provide regular updates to senior stakeholders, lead project reviews and support effective decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • Proven engineering-focused project management experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology or another GMP-regulated environment
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing facilities, infrastructure, utilities and building services
  • Experience delivering projects through design, construction, commissioning, qualification and handover
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements, including CDM Regulations and contractor management
  • Strong financial management skills, including CAPEX budgeting, cost tracking and expenditure forecasting
  • The ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, contractors, suppliers and technical consultants
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related technical discipline

Experience of pharmaceutical facility upgrades, site expansions, clean utilities, HVAC, electrical distribution, COMAH or ATEX environments would be advantageous. Professional qualifications such as APM, PMI or PRINCE2 would also be beneficial.

What you'll get in return

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of complex, high-value engineering and infrastructure projects within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the chance to influence capital investment, site infrastructure strategy, operational resilience and long-term business growth. Full details of the salary and benefits package will be discussed during the application process.
