SQL Developer
Location: Baltimore, MD(3 days onsite and Day1 Onsite)
Duration: 12+ Months
Position Summary
Client is seeking an experienced, hands-on SQL Developer to design, develop, enhance, and support data integrations, automated workflows, file transmissions, and reporting solutions that enable the firm’s Wealth and Asset Management business operations.
This role will be responsible for delivering reliable, scalable, and efficient technical solutions across a diverse technology ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on SQL development, data integration, process automation, and reporting. The successful candidate will contribute to both new development initiatives and the optimization of existing applications and data workflows, ensuring data accuracy, operational efficiency, and seamless integration across business-critical platforms.
Working collaboratively with Technology colleagues, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, the SQL Software Developer will translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, troubleshoot complex data and integration challenges, and support the successful deployment of production-ready solutions. The position also offers opportunities to contribute to Client's evolving cloud and data strategies, including the adoption and integration of modern cloud-based technologies such as Snowflake.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working within an Agile development framework, including participating in sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. This individual will be expected to manage assigned development work effectively, maintain accurate and timely updates in Jira and Confluence Agile project management tools, collaborate with team members to resolve delivery impediments, and consistently deliver high-quality solutions within established sprint commitments.
The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Owning the development, coding and bug-fixing for “small” projects.  This work will consist of creating, updating or fixing new or existing data integrations, SSRS reports and data loads into Snowflake.
  • Maintaining effective communications with Scrum Master, team members, sponsors and business stakeholders.
  • Executing ad-hoc development projects building data integration feeds and SSRS reports and automation
  • Actively participate in daily standups, bi-weekly backlog grooming sessions, retrospectives and sprint planning session based on the Agile framework
  • Submit automation projects for peer review and change management prior to deployment to Production
  •  Complete other related duties or projects as required, which may include facilitating daily standups in the role of Scrum Master
 
Qualifications:
  • Financial Services / Asset management industry exposure/experience is a must
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering or a related scientific or technical field.
  • 5+ years of application development experience.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum boards
  • Ability to work in the Baltimore office location a minimum of (40% onsite, 60% remote).
 
Technical Skills
  • Hands on experience with data and API integration projects.
  • Experience writing SQL scripts
  • Strong SQL knowledge.
  • Experience with financial accounting and trading technologies (i.e. Charles River Investment Management Solution, Advent APX Portfolio Management and Accounting, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience with one or more integration technologies (i.e. SSIS, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience with automation tools (Automate) is a plus
  • Experience with Jira & Confluence is a plus or any other similar project visualization tool (i.e. Rally, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience with Snowflake is a plus
  • PowerShell experience is a plus
  • Experience with GitHub is a plus
  • Experience with Reporting Tools (SSRS, Tableau)  
  • Experience with ETL Tools (FiveTran, Boomi, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience with MS Office Automation is a plus
