Cameron Chisholm & Nicol is an established architectural practice providing architectural design, documentation and project delivery services across residential, commercial, retail and hospitality developments throughout Western Australia. We are seeking a Senior Architectural Draftsman to join our documentation team in our Perth studio.
Position overviewReporting to our registered architects and project leaders, the Senior Architectural Draftsman will coordinate technical and design information and assist with the preparation of building designs, regulatory applications and construction documentation from design development through to construction.
Key duties and responsibilities- Prepare detailed architectural drawings and coordinated construction-documentation packages using Autodesk Revit, including site plans, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, construction details, schedules and specifications.
- Interpret architects' design concepts, sketches, project briefs and applicable codes, standards and regulations to produce accurate working drawings and architectural documentation.
- Develop, maintain and update Revit/BIM models throughout design development and documentation stages, ensuring drawing sets accurately reflect approved project revisions.
- Assist architects with Development Application, Building Permit, tender and construction documentation in accordance with project requirements and applicable approval processes.
- Coordinate architectural drawings and Revit models with structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and civil consultants; identify and resolve documentation clashes, inconsistencies and information gaps.
- Prepare, edit and revise drawings following design changes, consultant comments, client feedback and internal reviews, while maintaining drawing accuracy, version control and document-management standards.
- Assist in preparing architectural details, finishes, material schedules and specifications for tender and construction documentation.
- Review documentation for completeness, technical accuracy, coordination and consistency with project requirements before issue.
- Advanced diploma in architectural technology, building design or related discipline, or equivalent overseas qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an architectural Draftsman / Revit technician role within an architectural practice or multidisciplinary design environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, with strong technical drafting and documentation skills.
- Good understanding of Australian building codes, standards and documentation practices.
- Experience coordinating documentation with multiple consultants and managing document control processes.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines across multiple projects.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within project teams.
