SOCOTEC’s Environment and Safety team provides expert environmental, health and safety consultancy and compliance services that help organisations manage risk, protect people and safeguard the environment. Our services include environmental monitoring and consultancy, water safety and hygiene solutions with Legionella risk assessments and water system management, fire safety consultancy and inspections, occupational hygiene assessments and workplace exposure monitoring, and specialist advisory support on regulatory and sustainability challenges. We use industry-leading tools and science-based approaches to deliver accurate data, practical guidance and innovative solutions that ensure compliance with UK legislation, minimise environmental impact and create healthier, safer workplaces for clients

Health & Safety Principal Consultant
Join SOCOTEC as a Health & Safety Principal Consultant and play a key role in delivering high-quality compliance services that help clients manage risk, meet their legal obligations, and keep people safe.
As part of our growing Environment & Safety Division, you’ll provide professional consultancy services across a range of disciplines, with particular expertise in Health & Safety, Fire, Legionella and/or Training. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality client services in accordance with SOCOTEC’s policies, procedures and professional standards, while keeping up to date with relevant technical and legal developments to ensure our clients receive the highest standards of compliance support.
We’re looking for an experienced, proactive and dependable consultant who can work independently while supporting and developing colleagues across the team. You’ll be expected to maintain your professional qualifications, memberships and CPD, contribute to peer reviews and technical committees, and provide technical leadership within your areas of competence. Responsibilities
- To deliver fee earning services at the highest level
- Clearly recognise the need to maintain and develop their professional skills and support consultancy team to achieve their potential
- Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with relevant instructions
- Responsible for the delivery of high quality compliance services to a number of clients of SOCOTEC and to ensure that all work delivered to clients complies with SOCOTEC’s group policies and procedures
- Specialise in the high-quality delivery of at least 2 but preferably 3 of the consultancy areas within SOCOTEC (H&S, Fire, Legionella, Training)
- Contribute to the on going technical and legal updates that affect services and client support to ensure that Socotec are delivering to the highest standards of compliance
- To ensure that all documents are submitted to the office in a timely fashion and ensure the highest standards of administration
- The consultant will ensure that all professional memberships are maintained. The Operations Manager will confirm which professional memberships are required and endorsed by the company
- The consultant will ensure that they maintain individual CPD in line with memberships and accreditations
- To be and set out as a good example to all staff and to support junior and other team members to meet the high standards of consultancy services set by Socotec UK
- Achieve and maintain the highest qualification levels determined by SOCOTEC for the relevant consultancy disciplines
- To form part of the peer review team within SOCOTEC
- To engage and participate in relevant subject specific Technical Committees and support the work of any Technical Groups set up in their competency areas
- To lead (where appropriate) and take responsibility and support the work of any Technical Groups set up in their competency areas
- To undertake such other responsibilities that might reasonably be required by the company
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is the minimum requirement
- To be a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent
- To be registered on the consultants register OSHCR if requested by Operational Manager
