Job Title: Technical Program Manager (TPM)

Industry: Electric Vehicle (EV) / Automotive


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the execution of complex, cross-functional engineering programs in the Electric Vehicle (EV) domain. The ideal candidate will drive end-to-end technical program delivery across hardware, embedded software, cloud, and manufacturing teams using a hybrid delivery model that combines Waterfall and Agile methodologies.


The TPM will serve as the bridge between engineering, product management, manufacturing, suppliers, and business stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and compliant EV products.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Program Management

  • Lead end-to-end execution of complex EV programs involving hardware, embedded software, cloud, and connected vehicle technologies.
  • Define program scope, technical roadmaps, work breakdown structures (WBS), milestones, dependencies, budgets, and delivery plans.
  • Coordinate technical execution across Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, Embedded Software, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Powertrain, Connectivity, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Drive engineering planning from concept through design, validation, production, and product launch (SOP).


Hybrid Program Delivery (Waterfall + Agile)

  • Manage hardware development through Waterfall stage-gate processes, including design reviews, prototype builds, validation, regulatory approvals, and production readiness.
  • Govern Agile software execution for embedded systems, infotainment, telematics, OTA, cloud, and mobile applications.
  • Align sprint deliverables, release planning, and software milestones with hardware integration and manufacturing timelines.
  • Coordinate Program Increment (PI) Planning, sprint planning, release management, and cross-team dependency tracking.


Technical Leadership

  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Architects, Product Managers, and Technical Leads to define technical strategies and execution plans.
  • Identify technical risks, architectural dependencies, and integration challenges early in the development lifecycle.
  • Drive engineering trade-off discussions balancing performance, cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure successful integration of hardware, firmware, software, and cloud platforms.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead collaboration across Engineering, Product, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Validation, Quality, Regulatory, and Customer Support teams.
  • Coordinate activities with OEM customers, Tier-1 suppliers, and external engineering partners.
  • Remove blockers and resolve cross-functional issues impacting program execution.


Risk, Quality & Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate technical, program, supply chain, cybersecurity, and manufacturing risks.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive quality and safety standards including:
  • ASPICE
  • ISO 26262
  • APQP
  • PPAP
  • Functional Safety
  • Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434)
  • Automotive SPICE processes
  • Track engineering KPIs, quality metrics, defect trends, and validation readiness.


Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare executive dashboards, program reviews, and engineering status reports.
  • Present technical progress, risks, mitigation plans, and milestone health to senior leadership.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations across engineering leadership, product teams, customers, and vendors.


Continuous Improvement

  • Improve engineering execution processes, governance, and delivery frameworks.
  • Drive adoption of Agile best practices and hybrid delivery models.
  • Standardize program metrics, reporting, and engineering operating mechanisms.
  • Mentor engineering teams on program execution excellence.


Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8-12+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, or Technical Project Management.
  • Experience managing large-scale automotive or EV engineering programs.
  • Strong understanding of hardware-software co-development.
  • Hands-on experience managing cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Strong technical understanding of:
  • Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.


Good to Have

  • PMP Certification.
  • SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Scrum Master, or Agile certifications.
  • Experience working with global OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
  • Experience in EV startups or high-growth automotive organizations.
  • Exposure to autonomous driving, ADAS, digital cockpit, or connected mobility platforms.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and software release m
