Job Description

Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

Fed up with maintenance jobs where "career progression" is just something they write in the advert and never materialise into anything further?

This one's different.

We need a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer who can walk onto a fast-paced production floor, diagnose a fault before anyone's finished explaining the symptoms, and fix it mechanical, electrical, or PLC without needing three sign-offs.

You'll be doing planned, preventative and reactive maintenance. You'll be elbow-deep in PLCs, motors, control panels and production lines. You'll be the person breakdowns get sent to, and the person new machinery installs get built around. Real engineering, real responsibility, real variety.

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Keeping the plant running planned, preventative, reactive, the lot
  • Electrical fault finding on PLCs, motors and control panels
  • Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, electrical and automation faults
  • Supporting installs, refurbs and upgrades
  • Driving continuous improvement, not just patching problems
  • Keeping records straight and stock levels sorted
  • Working 4 on / 4 off, days and nights

What you'll need:

  • Solid experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, ideally in food manufacturing or FMCG
  • Apprenticeship trained, or City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical or equivalent
  • Genuine mechanical and electrical competence PLC fault finding you're actually confident with
  • A problem-solver who fixes the root cause, not just the symptom
  • Someone who can work solo or as part of a team without missing a beat
  • Decent PC literacy and comfort with maintenance management systems
  • A solid grip on H&S and food hygiene protocols

Bonus points for:

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regs
  • PLC programming experience
  • 3+ years in food manufacturing or FMCG

What's in it for you:

  • £53,000 £55,000
  • Company pension
  • Recognition & wellbeing programmes
  • Genuine progression not the kind that only exists in the job advert

If you want a role where your skills are actually used, actually valued, and that will be rewarded this is it.

Apply now, before someone else spots it first.
