Quality Assurance Analyst, Advanced

Position Summary

Defined Software Development is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Analyst for a remote contract consulting opportunity supporting enterprise application modernization and ongoing application maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manual testing, test automation, automated testing frameworks, REST API and microservices testing, Azure DevOps, and User Acceptance Testing. This role will collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure applications meet business requirements, technical specifications, and quality standards.

Florida residency is preferred. Candidates must be available to work in Tallahassee, FL if required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute formal test plans to ensure the delivery of quality software applications.

• Create test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts based on business requirements and technical specifications.

• Perform manual testing to validate application functionality and identify software defects.

• Design, develop, maintain, and scale custom automated testing frameworks, including frameworks using the Page Object Model.

• Design, write, and execute automated test scripts using Selenium or similar tools.

• Update automation scripts to accommodate UI changes and new feature deployments.

• Test REST APIs and microservices, including endpoint validation, contract checks, and payload verification.

• Coordinate and facilitate User Acceptance Testing sessions, guiding business users through application workflows.

• Participate in Joint Application Development sessions and design, development, and testing meetings.

• Review technical documentation and collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements, understand data needs, and resolve issues.

• Translate functional specifications into technical specifications and meeting outcomes into process models and process flows.

• Create and maintain technical documentation supporting testing and application delivery.

• Investigate issues, identify root causes, and communicate findings to business and technical teams.

• Support quality assurance for application modernization, maintenance, and evolving business processes.

• Ensure testing activities and deliverables comply with applicable development, security, and accessibility standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Quality Assurance and/or Business Analysis.

• Minimum 7 years of experience with Agile software development.

• Minimum 7 years of manual testing experience, including authoring test scenarios and validating system functionality against business requirements.

• Minimum 7 years of automated testing experience, including designing, writing, and executing test scripts using Selenium or similar tools.

• Minimum 7 years of experience with Azure DevOps and/or Team Foundation Server (TFS).

• Minimum 7 years of experience conducting meetings with individuals and groups to discuss business processes.

• Minimum 7 years of experience with Joint Application Development (JAD) techniques.

• Minimum 7 years of experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Minimum 7 years of experience designing, maintaining, and scaling custom automated testing frameworks from scratch, such as frameworks using the Page Object Model.

• Minimum 7 years of experience generating and updating automation scripts to accommodate UI changes and new feature deployments.

• Minimum 5 years of experience testing REST APIs and microservices, including endpoint validation, contract checks, and payload verification using Insomnia or similar tools.

• Proficiency with Postman, Insomnia, or comparable API testing tools.

• Minimum 7 years of experience translating functional specifications into technical specifications for development teams.

• Minimum 7 years of experience translating meetings and written materials into process models and process flows.

• Minimum 7 years of experience collaborating with stakeholders and team members to understand requirements, identify data needs, and resolve issues.

• Minimum 7 years of experience creating technical documentation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to varied audiences.

• Strong interpersonal and active listening skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.

• Strong problem-solving and root cause identification skills.

• Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, meet deadlines, and produce required deliverables.

• Ability to complete a Level 2 background screening, required confidentiality and data use agreements, security awareness training, and CJIS certification.

Preferred / Additional Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in an Information Technology–related field.

• Florida residency.

• Familiarity with business processes and existing applications relevant to the engagement.
