Telecom Engineer

Position: Optical Telecom Transport Engineer
Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid) or New Jersey
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Pay Rate: $55/hr on W2 without benefits

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Optical Telecom Transport Engineer with a strong background in transport network engineering, DWDM technologies, and Ciena/Nokia optical platforms. The engineer will be responsible for deploying, provisioning, commissioning, and supporting optical transport equipment and managing fiber turn-up activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deploy, provision, configure, and commission Nokia and Ciena DWDM transport equipment.
• Perform hardware equipment deployment and integration within telecom transport environments.
• Support DWDM optical transport networks and related infrastructure.
• Manage and coordinate fiber turn-up activities.
• Perform testing, validation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of transport equipment.
• Troubleshoot optical transport, connectivity, and equipment-related issues.
• Work with engineering and operations teams during network deployment and turn-up activities.
• Ensure transport equipment is installed, configured, tested, and commissioned according to network engineering standards.
• Support network upgrades, expansions, migrations, and deployment activities.
• Maintain appropriate technical documentation related to equipment deployment, provisioning, and commissioning.

Must-Have Requirements:

• 10+ years of Transport Network Engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing).
• Strong experience with Ciena optical transport platforms.
• Strong experience with Nokia optical transport platforms.
• Extensive experience with telecom hardware equipment deployment, provisioning, and commissioning.
• Experience managing and supporting fiber turn-up activities.
• Strong troubleshooting experience within optical/transport network environments.
• This is a Transport Network Engineering role — not an OSP (Outside Plant) position.
