Job Description

This opportunity is with a newly established Commonwealth regulator.

The agency became an independent statutory agency last year, after initially being stood up as a taskforce.

As the organisation continues to grow and evolve, its corporate functions, including the PMO, are expanding to support its changing needs.

The Opportunity

The PMO has built the first version of its Microsoft-based reporting system and now needs someone to deliver the next iteration.

This role is about lifting the PMO's data maturity and reporting, improving the SharePoint and Power BI tools are key for informed decision making by the Executive.

Realistically the initial scope will be SharePoint-heavy before moving into Power BI, with roughly an even split over the contract.

You'll have the chance to:

  • Shape reporting and data maturity within an agency still building its foundations
  • Take ownership of end-to-end reporting capability, with the autonomy to improve processes and approaches
  • Deliver high-impact work with strong visibility across the agency
  • Secure an initial six-month contract, with a three-month extension option, in a growing agency with a long-term focus on reporting capability
The Role

You'll enhance the agency's reporting environment across SharePoint intranet and Power BI reporting to improve collaboration, data quality and management oversight.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Working with branches to develop and enhance SharePoint sites, pages, libraries, forms and workflows
  • Implementing and maintaining permissions, access controls and information management practices
  • Enhancing and maintaining the agency's core Power BI reporting tool, including reports, dashboards and datasets
  • Integrating data from approved sources and making sure reporting products are accurate, reliable and documented
  • Building forms, workflows and automation in Power Apps and Power Automate where needed
  • Delivering training, user support, user guides and technical documentation
  • Supporting testing, deployment and handover so departmental staff can run the solutions after the contract ends
The Ideal Person

You are a data analyst with experience using Power BI and SharePoint who has improved how a team uses its data, ideally in a Regulator, Defence or APS environment.

You will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Hands on experience developing SharePoint Online sites and Power BI reports and dashboards in Microsoft 365, including Power Apps and Power Automate
  • The ability to turn business requirements into practical solutions, then document, train and hand them over well

It's also desirable if you have:

  • Experience working on the Defence Protected Network or within a major Defence program

Due to the nature of the work Australian Citizenship and NV1 is required. However, highly suitable candidates with a Baseline may be considered.

Salary / Rate
  • Initial six-month labour hire contract, with a three-month extension option
  • Expected start date of November 2026
  • Canberra based role, with up to two days working from home per week once established

There is no set rate for this RFQ. However, the value for you coming through myself for this opportunity is that I have extensive experience recruiting into this market, I work with each candidate individually to land on a rate that's competitive
