Software Developer - FE Developer

£500 per day | Remote | Occasional Travel to London | Multiple Positions Available

We are looking for several experienced Software Developers to join a large-scale government digital transformation programme focused on building secure, scalable, and user-centric services supporting UK customs and import processes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile programme delivering modern digital services that integrate with existing border and customs systems, helping to improve compliance, reduce fraud, and support the future of UK customs operations.

Essential Requirements

• Strong UI Development experience
• Commercial experience with React and Next.js
• Experience creating and working from HTML wireframes
• Knowledge of API mocking frameworks
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments
• Ability to write clean, maintainable and secure code

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions
• Write clean, secure, and well-tested code using a test-driven approach
• Contribute to the development of reusable, open and maintainable codebases
• Follow and help improve engineering best practices and development standards
• Build, deploy and support production services
• Investigate and resolve issues in live environments
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including designers, architects and product stakeholders
• Coach and mentor junior developers where required

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience delivering projects within the public sector or government environment
• Experience integrating with APIs and enterprise systems
• Familiarity with cloud-native development practices
• Understanding of secure software development principles

• Role: Software Developer (SFIA 4/SFIA 5)
• Rate: £500 per day
• Location: Remote
• Travel: Occasional visits to London may be required
• Contract: Initial contract with potential extension
