Job Description
Job Title: Automotive Over-The-Air Test Engineer
Location: Lewisville, TX (Onsite- 5 days a week)
Years of Experience: 7 to 10 Years (relevant exp. preferred)
Hire Type: Fulltime
Key Responsibilities-
Testing & Validation
- Design and execute comprehensive test cases for OTA update delivery systems
- Validate backend services responsible for firmware and software distribution
- Test update rollout mechanisms, including progressive rollouts and staged deployments
- Verify database integrity and consistency during update processes
- Conduct load and stress testing on OTA infrastructure
Quality Assurance
- Identify, document, and track defects in OTA systems with detailed reproduction steps
- Perform regression testing following bug fixes and system updates
- Validate update rollback and recovery procedures
- Test edge cases, error handling, and failure scenarios
- Ensure compliance with security and data protection standards
Automation & Tools
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for repetitive testing tasks
- Create test frameworks and utilities for OTA backend testing
- Build monitoring solutions to track update deployment metrics
- Collaborate on continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline improvements
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with backend engineers, DevOps, and product teams
- Document test strategies, test plans, and test results
- Participate in code review sessions from a QA perspective
- Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in backend testing or QTA (Quality Assurance)
- Strong understanding of OTA update mechanisms and device firmware distribution
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Go, or C++)
- Experience with RESTful APIs and HTTP protocols
- Familiarity with database systems (SQL, NoSQL)
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git)
- Understanding of testing methodologies and test case design
- Experience with testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman, JMeter, PyTest)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience with API testing and performance testing
- Background in IoT or device management systems
- Exposure to agile development environments
- Understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting
Technical Skills
- Programming: Python, Java, or similar language for test automation
- Testing Tools: Postman, Insomnia, JMeter, LoadRunner
- Version Control: Git/GitHub/GitLab
- Databases: SQL query writing and basic NoSQL knowledge
- Scripting: Bash, PowerShell, or similar
- Monitoring Tools: Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar
- Container Technologies: Docker, Kubernetes (preferred)
