Job Overview

The Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking an experienced Salesforce Developer to support and enhance existing Salesforce applications and participate in the development of the next-generation Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS).

The selected candidate will work closely with technical teams and system integrators throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Components, Lightning Pages, and Visualforce Pages.
  • Develop scalable solutions using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and Salesforce design patterns.
  • Create and optimize SOQL/SOSL queries, triggers, classes, and integrations.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Work on application integrations and support enterprise-level implementations.
  • Develop, maintain, and support existing Salesforce custom applications.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and mentor junior developers when needed.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and optimize Salesforce application issues.

Required Skills & Experience

Salesforce

  • Minimum 5+ years of Salesforce Development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Apex Development
    • Lightning Components / Lightning Web Components (LWC)
    • Visualforce Pages
    • SOQL/SOSL
    • Salesforce Configuration
    • Salesforce Design Patterns
    • CRUD Operations
    • Salesforce Integrations

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Experience with Design Patterns and enterprise application architecture.
  • Experience with .NET Framework, C#, and SOA concepts.
  • Strong SQL knowledge.
  • JavaScript and modern JavaScript frameworks experience preferred.
  • End-to-end web application development experience.
  • Experience with Web Services and API integrations.

Soft Skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to drive work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to mentor team members and contribute to technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of overall application development experience.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Experience with government or large enterprise applications.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical systems.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid role.
  • Candidate must be located in Connecticut or willing to relocate.
  • Must be able to attend the office 1 day per week or 2 days every 2 weeks.
  • Mandatory in-person interview attendance.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
