Job Description

Network Administrator | Farnborough, United Kingdom | Hybrid

This employer is a respected leader in the technology, engineering, and science sectors, dedicated to making the world safer, healthier, and more efficient. They are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support and evolve critical network services within challenging government and defence environments. This role offers a hybrid working model and the chance to contribute to both live service operations and project-based activities.

  • Lead network management and service acceptance, setting technical standards and providing subject matter expertise.
  • Design, validate, and assure network solutions in secure environments using formal verification principles.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including HLDs, LLDs, and operational procedures.
  • Support the operation and continuous improvement of live network services, ensuring availability, resilience, and compliance.
  • Take ownership of complex incidents, driving investigation and resolution.
  • Communicate effectively across technical, organizational, and customer boundaries within regulated and security-constrained environments.

  • Strong experience with data centre and campus networking technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, F5/Citrix).
  • In-depth understanding of network protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VLAN, STP, VPN, Load Balancing).
  • Experience implementing and supporting AAA services (TACACS+) in secure or regulated environments.
  • Proven experience operating high-availability data centre networks and hands-on experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG).
  • Good working knowledge of Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with AWS networking services and hybrid cloud connectivity is desirable.
