Job Description

Java Developer

Location: London
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum, plus benefits
Security Clearance: SC cleared or SC eligible (candidates must hold SC clearance or be eligible to obtain it)
Start Date: ASAP

The Role
We are looking for a talented Java Developer to join our team and contribute to the design, development and maintenance of high-performance applications. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of Java and is enthusiastic about working with the latest tools and frameworks. You will play a critical role in building scalable, high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
? Application development: Design, develop and implement Java applications using modern development tools and best practice.
? Code quality: Write clean, scalable code and take part in code reviews to maintain quality.
? API integration: Develop and integrate RESTful APIs for seamless communication between systems and applications.
? Debugging and testing: Identify, troubleshoot and fix defects, and carry out unit and integration tests.
? Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and understand requirements, and take part in design discussions.
? Performance optimisation: Make sure applications are optimised for speed, scalability and performance.
? Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

What We re Looking For
Essential:
? SC cleared or SC eligible.
? Java: Strong hands-on experience with Java SE and Java EE, writing efficient and effective code.

? Frameworks: Experience with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate and Struts.
? Databases: Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle or PostgreSQL, and experience writing SQL queries.
? APIs and web services: Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON and XML.
? Version control: Experience with Git or similar.
? Problem-solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
? Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication.
? Teamwork: Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
? Familiarity with microservices architecture.
? Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
? Knowledge of Front End technologies such as JavaScript, Angular or React.
? Experience working in an Agile development environment.
? Java certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional.
