Principal, IAM Platform Operations
Position Summary
The Principal, IAM Platform Operations serves as the senior technical and operational authority for Northern Trust's Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms. This role is responsible for driving platform stability, operational strategy, service maturity, automation, and technical governance across Identity Governance, Privileged Access Management, Authentication, Authorization, Non-Human Identity, and AI-Agent Identity services. The Principal partners across Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, Risk, and Technology Operations to ensure IAM services are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with enterprise objectives. Principal, IAM Platform Operations

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior technical leader for IAM platform operations and service management.
- Define operational standards, support models, monitoring strategies, and reliability practices across IAM services.
- Lead complex operational initiatives, platform modernization efforts, and service maturity improvements.
- Drive automation, observability, resiliency, and operational excellence across the IAM portfolio.
- Partner with Engineering and Architecture teams on platform design, scalability, recoverability, and production readiness.
- Lead root cause analysis and remediation of significant operational incidents and systemic issues.
- Establish operational metrics, service health reporting, and executive performance dashboards.
- Support regulatory examinations, audits, risk assessments, and control validation activities.
- Provide technical mentorship and thought leadership for Engineers, Leads, and Operations teams.
- Influence strategic roadmap development and investment priorities across the IAM domain.
- 10+ years of experience in Identity & Access Management, Cyber Security, or Enterprise Technology.
- Deep expertise in Identity Governance, Privileged Access Management, Authentication, Authorization, Identity Lifecycle Management, and Non-Human Identity.
- Proven experience supporting and optimizing large-scale enterprise IAM platforms.
- Strong understanding of platform operations, service reliability, automation, cloud technologies, and operational resilience.
- Ability to influence technical strategy and drive cross-functional execution across multiple teams.
- Experience supporting highly regulated environments and control-driven organizations.
- Hands-on expertise with CyberArk, Saviynt, Entra ID, Okta, Ping, ServiceNow, and related IAM technologies.
- Experience with cloud identity platforms, automation frameworks, and operational analytics.
- Knowledge of NIST, COBIT, FFIEC, and industry-standard security control frameworks.
- CISSP, CISM, CyberArk, Saviynt, Microsoft Security, or similar certifications.
