Job Description
About the Team
OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
The Global Events Studio Team creates exceptional live and recorded video for Press, Marketing, Developer Experience, and Communications.
About the Role
The Associate Livestream Producer will independently own smaller audience-facing productions from intake through delivery while supporting the Livestream Producer on high-impact livestreams. This role combines hands-on show production, studio booking and schedule ownership, partner coordination, presenter preparation, and reliable follow-through across overlapping programs.
This is a predominantly onsite role in our San Francisco office and may require occasional early, late, or travel-based productions.
In this role, you will:
Independently own smaller webinars, podcasts, interviews, studio recordings, and recurring content programs from intake through delivery.
Assist the Livestream Producer on high-impact livestreams, owning assigned workstreams, partner communication, and production follow-through.
Own the studio booking process, including intake, availability, confirmations, changes, cancellations, and requester communication.
Maintain team schedules with accurate holds, staffing plans, rehearsals, preparation time, changeovers, and production status.
Lead kickoffs that clarify audience, purpose, format, participants, deliverables, success criteria, and decision-makers.
Translate program objectives into clear briefs, timelines, milestones, responsibilities, and production plans.
Develop effective run-of-show structures, including segment timing, transitions, audience engagement, and calls to action.
Ensure scripts, presentations, demonstrations, and creative assets function coherently within the live program.
Coordinate closely with Communications, Marketing, Events, Design, Editorial, and other internal partners.
Prepare presenters through briefing materials, table reads, rehearsals, call times, expectations, and calm day-of support.
Source, schedule, brief, and support production crews, freelancers, agencies, and other specialist partners.
Right-size crew, venue, resources, timeline, and production approach to the audience, impact, and reputational risk.
Maintain a dependable source of truth for schedules, approvals, assets, owners, decisions, and late-breaking changes.
Coordinate reviews and approvals for scripts, decks, graphics, speaker information, branding, and public-facing content.
Lead routine rehearsals and show-day producer operations while keeping speakers, partners, crew, and program timing aligned.
Manage multiple overlapping productions without losing dependencies, commitments, or partner confidence.
Identify content, staffing, scheduling, approval, and resource risks early; escalate consequential issues with clear options.
Review performance metrics and partner feedback to improve formats, workflows, engagement, and audience impact.
Close productions cleanly through deliverable handoffs, follow-up communication, documentation, and concise retrospectives.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
3–6 years of recent experience producing livestreams, webinars, video, events, or comparable audience-facing content.
Demonstrated experience independently delivering smaller productions, building run-of-show plans, preparing presenters, and managing schedules, stakeholders, and approvals across overlapping projects.
Functional understanding of live control room technical roles and responsibilities.
Understanding of various livestreaming platforms and signal pathways.
Experience clarifying ambiguous requests, aligning partners on scope and deadlines, securing approvals, and communicating tradeoffs when plans change.
Familiarity with use of AI tools in your daily work or personal life. Exploration of working with Agents is a bonus.
