Overview

  • Our client is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) Journeyman to join a dynamic team supporting global mission-critical consular applications and services. This role presents an outstanding opportunity to drive mission success by optimizing, modernizing, and maintaining legacy networks, enterprise databases, and application hosting environments essential to daily global operations.
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining enterprise Oracle database environments, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, continuous performance optimization, and rigorous security standards across geographically distributed environments.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise Oracle database environments supporting information technology operations, application hosting, disaster recovery, and mission-critical services.
  • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases, query analysis, patch management, backup validation, database upgrades, and security administration.
  • Administer Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Data Guard, Recovery Manager (RMAN), GoldenGate replication, and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
  • Manage day-to-day enterprise security hygiene by rapidly executing remediations for high-severity CVEs and actively exploited KEVs to protect core systems.
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards related to database management, monitoring transaction activity, utilization, and audit readiness.
  • Develop stored procedures, triggers, and enforce database administration and user standards.
  • Administer database systems including Oracle RDBMS, MS SQL Server, Postgres DB, and other DBMS platforms.
  • Oversee scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders, application developers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and database architects.
  • Create and maintain high-level reporting systems using tools such as Oracle OEM BI reports, while researching and implementing new online and database technologies.
  • Support capacity planning, disaster recovery testing, database migrations, and operational process improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology).
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant database administration experience.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Solid technical proficiency in Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, GoldenGate, TDE, and enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Ability to write custom SQL scripts, perform index optimization, query analysis, and patch management.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively articulate systems proposals to management and customers and provide diagnoses and resolutions for current systems.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work, balance responsibilities, and lead complex projects.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience
  • 2 to 3 years of experience as an Oracle DBA or Oracle-related area, including at least 1 year applying knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, and/or Security.
  • Hands-on experience with full-lifecycle implementation of Oracle 19c RDBMS and 19c/21c hub Oracle GoldenGate for production environments.
  • Experience upgrading Oracle RDBMS from 11g/12c to 19c, implementing Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and working with Containerization.
  • Experience writing custom monitoring reports for 12c OEM.
  • Hands-on experience working with Oracle Cloud Computing (private or public) and Oracle Engineered Systems such as Exadata and Sun Super Cluster.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to guide and mentor team members.
