Senior Penetration Tester

Salary: £60,000 – £65,000

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Penetration Tester to join our growing cyber security team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong security professional looking to work across a varied portfolio of complex environments and challenging penetration testing engagements.

You will be involved in delivering hands-on penetration testing and security assessments for clients across public sector, Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and large enterprise environments, with exposure to infrastructure, applications, cloud and modern containerised technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver manual penetration testing and security assessments across infrastructure, networks, operating systems, web applications and APIs
• Conduct security testing across Azure, AWS and other cloud environments
• Assess Kubernetes, Docker, IAM and CI/CD environments
• Perform internal and external infrastructure penetration tests
• Identify, exploit and clearly document security vulnerabilities
• Produce high-quality technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders
• Work closely with clients to understand their environments and communicate technical risks effectively
• Contribute to security architecture and security control reviews
• Support junior consultants through mentoring, knowledge sharing and technical guidance
• Keep up to date with emerging vulnerabilities, attack techniques and industry developments
• Contribute to the ongoing development of penetration testing methodologies, tooling and service offerings

Essential Experience

• Proven commercial experience in penetration testing / offensive security
• Strong hands-on experience across infrastructure and/or application penetration testing
• Experience working with cloud environments, particularly Azure and/or AWS
• Experience with modern technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, APIs and CI/CD
• Strong understanding of current attack techniques, vulnerabilities and defensive controls
• Excellent report writing and client-facing communication skills
• Current UK Security Clearance (SC)

Desirable

• CREST or Cyber Scheme certifications
• Experience working within Public Sector, CNI or large enterprise environments
• Experience leading penetration testing engagements or supporting/mentoring junior testers
• Experience with cloud-native and hybrid environments
• Cyber Security Council professional registration
