Role: Business Consultant - Technical Business Analyst

Location: Westlake, Texas and Durham, North Carolina; Hybrid

Job Description:  

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Product / Systems Analyst – Technical Business Analyst with strong domain expertise in Investment Banking and Capital Markets. The ideal candidate will work closely with Front Office, Product Owners, business stakeholders, and technology teams to understand investment workflows and translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications.

The role will focus on investment workflows, requirements analysis, backlog definition, acceptance criteria, system documentation, and pilot feedback, serving as a key bridge between business and technology teams.

Day to Day Job Duties:

·         Partner with Investment Banking/Capital Markets stakeholders to understand business processes, investment workflows, and technology requirements.

·         Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and system requirements.

·         Translate business requirements into user stories, functional specifications, system requirements, and acceptance criteria.

·         Work with Product Owners to define, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog.

·         Facilitate discovery sessions, requirement workshops, backlog refinement, and solution discussions.

·         Analyze existing investment workflows and identify process and system improvement opportunities.

·         Perform gap analysis, impact analysis, data-flow analysis, and system dependency assessments.

·         Collaborate with architects, developers, QA, and integration teams to clarify functional and technical requirements.

·         Analyze APIs, interfaces, data flows, and upstream/downstream system dependencies.

·         Define acceptance criteria and support functional, integration, and end-to-end testing.

·         Support UAT and pilot implementations, collect user feedback, and translate findings into backlog enhancements.

·         Validate delivered functionality against business requirements and acceptance criteria.

·         Prepare process flows, system documentation, functional specifications, data mappings, and operating procedures.

·         Track requirements, defects, dependencies, risks, and change requests through delivery.

·         Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications:

·         6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or Systems Analyst.

·         4+ years of experience within Investment Banking, Capital Markets, or Investment Management technology.

·         4+ years of experience in requirements analysis, user stories, backlog management, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.

·         3+ years of experience analyzing APIs, system integrations, data flows, and upstream/downstream application dependencies.

Core Skills:

·         Business Analysis: Requirements Elicitation, BRD/FRD, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, Gap Analysis

·         Product: Backlog Definition, Prioritization, Product Requirements, Pilot Feedback

·         Investment Banking: Investment Workflows, Capital Markets, Trade Lifecycle

·         Systems Analysis: APIs, Interfaces, Data Flows, System Integration, Dependency Analysis

·         Data: SQL, Data Mapping, Data Validation, Reconciliation

·         Testing: SIT, UAT, Functional Testing, Acceptance Validation

·         Agile: Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Jira, Confluence

·         Documentation: Process Flows, Functional Specifications, System Documentation

Nice to Have:

·         Strong understanding of trade lifecycle and Front-to-Back investment workflows.

·         Experience with asset classes such as Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, or Securities.

·         Exposure to Front Office, Middle Office, Risk, Operations, Settlement, or Regulatory Reporting systems.

·         Experience with Order Management Systems (OMS), Execution Management Systems (EMS), or investment platforms.

·         Knowledge of FIX, market/reference data, trade booking, confirmation, clearing, and settlement processes.

·         Hands-on SQL experience for data analysis and validation.

·         Experience working with REST APIs and system integration specifications.

·         Experience supporting pilot programs, production rollouts, and post-implementation feedback.

·         Experience working with globally distributed business and technology teams.

·         Strong stakeholder management, analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
